PAPER MADE, Fiber Art Now Magazine, Summer 2023

I’m thrilled to be part of the juried exhibition “Paper Made” @fiberartnow and featured in the Summer 2023 issue of the quarterly printed magazine! My papier-mâché work “Love My Sugar Daddy” (2019) was selected along with work by 39 other artists.
Made from 33 US dollar bills, it is part of my bustier/corset series, which illuminates the dichotomy of repression and allure of fashion’s ridiculous standards for the “perfect” body. This piece comments on the preference of some women for wealthy men.

FEMME, an international juried exhibition
Art Fluent Gallery, Sandwich, MA

Virginia’s bustier “Love my Sugar Daddy!” is featured in this inspiring tribute to women.
Art Fluent describes the exhibition: ”The enduring feminine spirit is diverse, ever-changing, a mystery, and beautiful all wrapped up into one. As far as art can remember, we have been drawn to the female archetype in all her complexities and contradictions. Her strength and vulnerabilities, her value, her abilities, and all of her possibilities. FEMME celebrates women, their allure, and their place in humanity.”
